For this activity I traced my foot on construction paper. I had to use three different medias on my foot (ribbon, color pencil, paper, marker, and/or crayons). My footprint represents me and what I have done in my life and what I am doing with my life. I chose to put a chamberlain cub at the front of my foot to represent where I went to high school. I then added a cross country symbol and I created a pom pom out of ribbon to represent the two sports I participated in when I was in high school (cheer leading and cross country). I then drew a book because I love to read. I added ABC blocks to represent my elementary ed degree and a puzzle piece to represent my Special Education degree. I also added the NSU logo to show where I am getting my degrees. At the heel of my foot I added a heart to represent the love I have for all the people in my life including my family and my husband.
This project can be done in a classroom in many different ways. One example is to have all the students make a footprint to introduce themselves to the classroom. The students can then put their feet around the entire classroom and measure the footprints so the project could be integrated into a math lesson. The students will be able to get to know each other and display their artwork while still practicing math skills. The students could measure the footprints in centimeters and convert it to feet and yards.
