Blooming into Spring- Crayon Resist

Lesson Summary:
In this lesson we taught about Georgia O'Keeffe and her drawing style. We were then told to create our own flower similar to Georgia O'Keeffe's style. We had to use crayons or oil pastels to create bright colored flowers. Once our flowers were created we painted over them with a black tempera paint and water mixture.  We then dried the paint and water mixture with a paper towel and let them dry.

Extension activity:
To add to this lesson in my classroom I would teach the students about how flowers grow. After creating our flowers we would create a seed, soil, water, and a sun and put together the plant life cycle that we learned about in class. The class would then put together a display of the plant life cycle using our drawings.
